OUR PASTOR
Cory J. Chavis was born and raised in the City of Detroit and attended elementary and high school at St. Mary’s of Redford in Detroit and graduated with honors in the top 1% of his graduating high school class. His greatest loves are the Lord, his children, and his potential to impact the community. He is the founder and senior pastor of Victory Community Church and he is excited about leading the ministry in new millennial ministry methods while maintaining the sanctity and spirituality of the gospel message. Pastor Chavis has two children, Alaysha Shekinah and Cory Immanuel.
Pastor Chavis graduated magna cum laude (with honors) from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. At the University of Detroit he won the Engineering and Science Student of the Year Award. He also graduated summa cum laude from Ashford University in Clinton Iowa with a Master in Business Administration and received his religious training at Michigan Theological Seminary. He is also a recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship and received his Masters in the Art of Teaching with a specialization in Mathematics.
Pastor Chavis was consecrated to the office of Bishop in the Lord's Church in April 2018 and was elevated to Presiding Prelate of the Interdenominational Assembly of Churches in December of the same year. He currently serves with the sixteen churches of the fellowship to advance for the Kingdom of God and support ministry growth nation wide.
Bishop Chavis is also author of the book, "The Vocabulary of Success" which was published June 2018 and can be found on Amazon and ebook platforms. He also serves in the community in many capacities including: Appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the State of Michigan Community Corrections Board (served two terms), Detroit Police Chaplain - Deputy Chief, Youth Violence Prevention Board, Ceasefire Implementation Team, and former VP of ACE Academy School Board in Highland Park Michigan Chartered by CMU.
Bishop Chavis believes in pastoring through empowerment with a Kingdom Focus and a victorious mind set.
